The Preserve Journal and What its About.
The "I" in The Preserve Journal is mostly "we". It is a collaborative effort by several, dedicated contributors. And - if the Preserve name caused you to stumble on to this blog looking for hints on canning peaches or sterilizing Mason jars....Sorry. Didn't mean to mislead you. The Preserve is actually a small enclave of homes on the north shore of Long Island. Far enough out east to have New England weather but still keeping us Long Islanders at heart. There are even some Red Sox fans here. We are keeping an eye on them.
The Preserve Journal is being published to alert our community to serious quality of life situations some of which threaten the health and welfare of our most vulnerable neighbors; the children, the elderly, pregnant women and those with existing health problems. We're using The Preserve title but we mean to include everyone in the neighboring communities and ask them to participate or comment accordingly.
We may be on the east end of Long Island but we have discovered that our problems are no different than any small town across America. So whether we are in Kansas, Montana, Oregon, deep in the Heart of Texas or on the rocky coast of Maine, we are still middle America in our needs and concerns for our families.
