Planning Board Meets. The first monthly meeting of the Riverhead Town Planning Board will be this evening (December 5, 2006) at 7pm. Planning Department states that the Mastronardi subdivision is on the agenda. We can only assume that there will be appropriate comments by the Town engineers this time.
Asphalt Plant: Have not noticed the asphalt operating for several days now. The yard waste operation is in full swing and they have produced huge mounds of compost almost out to the fence on Youngs Avenue. We still await definitive word on the future of the plant. The plant's equipment appears to be intact at this time.
The Shinnecocks have had a major setback. The Interior Department has declared that they are not bound by the November 7, 2005 court decision that recognized the Shinnecock nation as a tribe. The ruling means that the Shinnecocks must now pursue recognition with the Bureau of Indian Affairs if they have any hope of establishing a casino operation on Long Island.
In Case You Missed It Department: The University of Texas Longhorns beat the Trojans of USC in the Rose Bowl at Pasadena last night by a score of 41 to 38. There are some good things happening.
