Town Councilwoman Barbara Blass preferred to reserve judgment of those who consulted on the landfill project. During a radio interview on Monday morning (5/1/) Blass suggested that the Reclamation Project advisors who may have grossly underestimated the landfill volume causing the huge cost overrun not be accused until all the facts are in. Meanwhile callers to the talk-radio programs are asking for more proactive investigation by the Town, while others suggest that the Board call for an immediate audit of all accounts related to the project.
Vince Tria Takes an Assignment
On Tuesday evening the Town Board will officially swear in Vince Tria as the Town's Ombudsman. This is a "dollar a year" job and involves being "the people's advocate". Mr. Tria is very active in Riverhead, especially in revitalizing the downtown area and serves as VP of the Val-Leavit theater in addition to being the owner of radio station WRIV 1390 am. We are very pleased that Mr.Tria has offered to review the cul-de-sac situation on our behalf and we are hoping that he can help in turning things around.
