The $93 million dollar Riverhead School District budget was defeated by just 91 votes. The actual vote was 1667 NO votes and 1576 YES votes. Proponents of the budget were surprised at the outcome given the adjusted increase originally estimated to be 6.5 %, reduced to approximately 3.5% when a State aid veto by the Governor was overridden by the legislature. That increase was further reduced to about 2% with reassessment information from Southampton Town. The latter was known just two days prior to the budget vote.
The reserve fund proposition was defeated.
The Board will meet to schedule a date for a re-vote of the budget.
F1 Go-Karts
The F1 Go-Kart proposal seems to be losing momentum. Town Board seems reluctant to endorse the project.
Requiring more info regarding noise and environmental impact.
YARD SALE......YARD SALE......YARD SALE
Seems to be a consensus forming (or whatever a consensus does) for a July 22 date for a Yard Sale.
Check your calendars and see if this works for you. Multiple-family yard sales seem to draw larger numbers of customers and probably gives you the best chance of getting that stuff sold. More to come.
