Reclamation Fallout

The shutting down of the Reclamation/landfill operation brought a sudden end to many operations associated with that project. Not only did the Town terminate the consulting engineers but the prime landfill contractor (Grimes) as well. It is understood that Grimes may still be owed a large sum for work completed. The six month cessation of activities on Youngs Avenue will allow the Town to catch it's breath and decide the future direction of the 70 acre problem area. The yard waste operation seemed to be continuing the last time we looked.

Meanwhile there is no shortage of blame. There seems to be enough to go around for everyone. It had become fashionable for many to point to "the previous administration" for mistaken decisions and errors in hiring advisory help on the project but Bob Kozakiewicz, former Town Supervisor stated in a radio interview that those hirings were done prior to his administration. Holy "blame game" Batman!

Yard Sale Not Dampened by Weather

Participants in the second annual Preserve yard sale seemed to be pleased by the outcome of the sales event and were not deterred by the on again off again weather. Some protective canopys were blown over and the rain started in earnest just as things were wrapping up.

Gas Prices are Back
Given the steady increase in gasoline prices over the past several weeks we thought it best to bring back the link to local gasoline prices. Check the links to the right for Gas Prices.
