S.T.O.P. (Stop Pollutants this Saturday)
In case you missed it department: You can take those old paint cans, insecticides, used oil containers to the landfill on Youngs Avenue (actually the Highway Dept area) for collection on Saturday, May 12 from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Also something new this year will be the collection of old electronic parts, (computers, keyboards, hard drives or anything similar). Git 'er done!

Levy Won't Bend on Trailers
The County Executive will not back off on the plan to position trailers at the site of the County Jail to house a group of sex offenders despite their proximity to downtown, the public library and schools very close by on Pulaski and Harrison. Several officials of the Town as well as Legislator Ed Romaine are working to stop the plan without much luck so far.

Republicans Nominate a New Slate For November
James Wooten, retired police officer and Tim Buckley, a current police officer have been selected by the Riverhead Republican Party to run for Town Councilmen in the coming election. Buckley will retire from the force this summer.
Jim Stark a councilman from 1990 to 1995 and then Supervisor from 1995 to 1997 will challenge Cardinale for the Supervisor position. Ed Densieski, current Town Councilman, will run for Highway Superintendent. Mark Kwasna will not seek reelection.


Gas Prices Climbing Out of Sight
Many readers are urging a "No Gas Purchase" on May 15. This message is going around the internet and is gaining some momentum across the country. I'll go along with this idea. NO GAS ON MAY 15.
