The Town Board announced that Riverhead Resorts has won the bid to develop 755 acres of land at EPCAL, the former Grumman site. Resorts plan is for an indoor ski lift and a 90 acre lake. The Company agreed to pay $155 million dollars for the land. The choice for Riverhead Resorts was a surprise for most parties and some are expressing doubt that the project will ever be completed. An aviation expert has raised the question as to whether the proposed ski lift will interfere with VOR navigation and suggested that the Town review this proposal with the FAA as soon as possible.

Bartunek, is of course, an incumbent and is attempting to return to the Board while Csorny is running for the seat being vacated by Ed Densieski who is running for Highway Commissioner.
LIPA Outages are Outrageous
The all too frequent electrical outages in The Preserve have become extremely annoying and quite disruptive to our neighbors. An outage can be dangerous and potentially hazardous to electronic equipment when power returns in a surge.
A thank you to Nancy for getting on LIPA's case for these frequent losses of power and got them to dispatch a service truck to the area where they found some frayed cables which they claim was the base cause for the problem. Hopefully this will solve the problem for a while anyway.
