Town Raises Yard Waste Fee
The Town Board has raised the Yard Waste fee from $25 annually to $50.00 annually. The fee increase (see Resolution #57) was agreed to at the Town Board meeting held on January 15. This is an outrageous increase on Town residents. This increase, coupled with the huge property tax increase that we face this year (6.0% plus) is just an example of a Town out of control. If you have been buying the Yard Waste sticker every year and are unhappy about this - send your protest via e-mail to the Town Board or the Supervisor.

Check Recalls Everyday.
The Federal Government is doing an excellent job of posting current lists of consumer product recalls including toys, household items, tools and so much more. Check it out at http://www.cpsc.gov/

Rumble in the Bronx? No. Riverhead.
Riverhead Police are reporting a disturbance, gang fight and a possible stabbing at the Riverhead High School on Harrison Avenue, Tuesday 2/5. Details are incomplete.

Sick of Sales Calls
Under the Federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act telemarketers are prohibited from making unsolicited sales calls between the hours of 9 pm and 8 am. There are some exceptions of course such as political groups, not-for-profit or surveys. Not on the list? Just make a call to the Do-Not-Call Registry at 1-888-382-1222 and list your number.

A Few Updates:
Vintage Group declared eligible to develop downtown (Railroad Ave area) for movie theater etc
Apollo has finally notified the Town that it wants to proceed with Main Street development and agrees that Town should begin condemnation procedures.
Riverhead Resorts (Developers of Ski-EPCAL) now faced with a current NY State Environmental study at EPCAL which states that a spotted owl has been seen on the grounds. Oh - Oh !!!
