School Budget Vote on Tuesday May 20.
Voting for the Riverhead school budget will take place on May 20 at the High School on Harrison. The Board seeks approval for a 2.99% increase in spending or a tax levy of 2.4%. In addition the Board asks for approval to spend reserve funds in the amount of $375,000 for the removal of an oil tank from the school bus barn.

Three members of the Board seek reelection (Gassert, Berezny and Stark) while four challengers are running for those seats (Cotten-DeGrasse, Meyer, Carrera and Mastropaolo).

Gas Prices Go Up Faster Than We Can Report - We were reporting 3.99 a gallon in Riverhead on Sunday afternoon and just a few hours later the pumps were over 4.00. Meanwhile the President didn't seem to have much success in convincing the Saudis to increase production. Domestic drilling to increase production is the only immediate answer. Meanwhile Congress has voted to prohibit oil shale drilling in Colorado which could quadruple our oil reserves. What is wrong with these people?
