Several passing downpours will help the water pressure problems here in Riverhead. The Fire District may lift the ban (although voluntary) on lawn watering.
School District Looking to Spend Big
It has been reported that The Riverhead School District is anticipating major expansion over the next few years and may seek upwards of $200 million to cover some very ambitious plans..
Riverhead Town Hall needs a home.
A new Townhall is still on the agenda for this Town Board. Despite the weakened economy some members of the Board see no problem in spending $12 million taxpayer dollars for a new structure.
Suffolk County Has Huge Surplus
The Treasury in Suffolk County is chock full with about $130 million dollars.
Meanwhile Ed Romaine, County Legislator is asking for eleimination of the gasoline tax in Suffolk as well as elimination of the tax on heating oil in the County. (The only County in NY State that such a tax)>
Across The Sound in Connecticut...
The Governor of the Nutmeg State, Jodi Rell, also presides over a large surplus in the State's treasury and wants to use it to assist residents with their heating bills this winter. Why didn't we think of that?
