Mastronardi Subdivision Begins
Development of the 49 acre parcel immediately east of The Preserve has begun. Postponed for a number of months, bulldozers and tree cutters arrived at mid-week and began removal of trees and brush to carve out a roadway through the property.
Cutting through the tap street from the cul-de-sac is still expected. We are not aware of a timetable for the cut-through as there has been zero notification to residents in this area as to when anything will happen.
The insistence by the Planning Board that the tap street be included in the final plan is beyond comprehension. The Board has chosen to ignore the many letters, petitions, emails and pleadings that were made by concerned residents.
In a similar situation in Wading River a little over a year ago, Planning Board attempts to cut two tap streets into an existing neighborhood from a new subdivision were withdrawn as a result of residents outcry. And so it goes.

Helicopter Continues to Fly
The helicopter that had been landing and taking off from a property on Deep Hole Road continues to fly in the area, making simulated approaches to the Deep Hole parcel but not landing which would be a technical violation of the injunction issued by the Supreme Court.
Speaking before the Suffolk County Legislature, a resident of Deep Hole Road expressed concern regarding the flights because the activity is noisy and frightening his horses. He hopes that the proposed altitude limitation resolution will help with this problem.
