Do One Nice Thing Still Doing Nice Things
Debbie Tenzer's latest email confirms that she and her members are still doing great things for people everywhere. This month she is pushing for mosquito nets to prevent malaria, tells about one fourth grader who collected and sent over 17,000 pencils for the school kids in Afghanistan and much more. http://www.doonenicething.com/



Economy Starts to Tank as Election Nears
Huge job losses and a case of nerves on Wall Street as stocks slide. Silver lining is lower gasoline prices (under $3 first time in many months). Opec, however, is threatening to cut production in order to send oil prices upward again. The economic message from candidates is is unclear and many corporations are concerned about future higher taxes.

Recent reports that the Town Board is considering handing out salary increases to some Town officials would be an affront to the tax paying public in view of the Town's revenue shortfall and likely budget increase. Makes the next item questionable.

Riverhead Tightening Belt
There is evidence that Riverhead is starting to take a realistic look at spending and just vacated a key position in Industrial Development in order to save a salary. More cuts in spending can be expected


Watch Credit Card Statements
Some reports around the country that unsolicited campaign contributions are appearing on credit card statements which were not approved by the card holder. Review your statements to make sure you aren't being hacked.


The irony of the Information Age is that it has given new respectability to uninformed opinion.
