Wishing Everyone a very
Happy Thanksgiving

It has been suggested by some that the earliest Thanksgiving celebration was in 1565 at St. Augustine. Traditionalists tend to believe that the first Thanksgiving was celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621 at Plymouth Plantation. While we celebrate our Thanksgiving in November (last Thursday of the month), Canada also has a Thanksgiving Day but in early October.
Those who would take away this tradition are treading on dangerous grounds. Americans and Canadians have a strong belief in the meaning of this day and some good advice would be: Don't mess with Thanksgiving!

Bailouts Not for Everyone

Seven (7) of our states have said that everything is just fine with their budgets, revenues and expenditures and will not be asking for any help from Washington thank you. New York, Arizona, California, Illinois, Massachusetts, Ohio and a few more ARE NOT AMONG THE SEVEN OF COURSE! It is imperative that states, counties and townships learn this lesson. Riverhead are you listening? (More on this after the holiday)

Bay Shore/Brightwaters Opens New Library

Last weekend the Bay Shore/Brightwaters Public Library officially opened it's newly renovated, expanded and decorated facility on West Main Street. It is truly a magnificent piece of work. Two massive fireplaces are installed (one on each of the spacious levels) as well as superb reading areas and a special area dedicated to former library director John E. Clark. Congratulations.
