Suffolk Towns Expect Many Tax Grievance Filings
The sinking economy, loss of jobs and no let up in Town and School taxes will force many homeowners to seek a reduction in property taxes. Homeowners may seek a reduction in property taxes by filing a tax grievance or by having a professional prepare the paperwork for them. Tax grievance paperwork forms are available at the Town Assessor's office and must be filed (in Riverhead) between May 1 and May 19, 2009. (See Newsday article on Jan 30, 2009 by Gigi Aharoni)
