Dow Plunges to Lowest in 11 Years
On Monday the Dow Jones average sank below 6800, the lowest it has been since 1997. Stuart Varney of Fox Business Network summed it up on Tuesday morning by saying that the American public (and investors) have completely lost confidence in the Obama administration's economic plan for recovery. So where do we go from here?
Administration Offers to Ditch Missile Defense System
A secret letter to the Russian Government from the White House has proposed to stand down on the European Missile Defense System if Russia would intercede with Iran on their plans to move ahead with their planned missile weapons system. This is unlikely to make our military staffers very happy and expect a strong reaction from conservatives.
Tea Parties a Huge Success

New American tea parties which were scheduled for last Friday in 8 or 9 cities across the nation were very successful. Inspired by Rick Sentelli's outrage before the Chicago Board of Trade members, The New American Tea Party gathered support from many quarters asking participants to schedule an event in each of the cities with more to come.
No Special Election To Replace Buckley
It is unlikely that Gov Paterson will approve a special election to replace Riverhead Town Councilman Tim Buckley who resigned his post last week. It is more likely that candidates will lineup for an election to take place in November with the Board to stand at just 3 members plus the Supervisor until then.
The Riverhead Fire District has agreed to a swap of land with the Town in which Riverhead would acquire the FD property on Ostrander with the Fire District receiving a property on rte 58.
Riverhead will sue Suffolk County regarding what they feel is the improper housing of sex offenders in a trailer on prison grounds in Riverside. The trailer (and it's occupants), they argue, is too close to Town parks, schools and the Public Library. Legislator Romaine has joined the Town in the action.
