The Suffolk County 912 project (patterned after Glenn Beck's 9/12 principles) met at the Polish Hall on Wednesday evening. The crowd, presumably all 912 Members, numbered 110 with some standing at the back of the hall. Bob Meyer and his primary organizers each made a short presentation. Guest speakers included Lee Zeldin who is running for the State Senate opposing Brian Foley in the Third Senate District and two speakers from the Hamptons.
The speakers were well received and many questions followed each of the presentations.

The recent interest in the Health Care Bill was seen as a reason for the spike in membership over the last few weeks.
MTA Making Big Cuts
The MTA will layoff 1000 people including 450 station agents as early as May. Service reductions will be seen in NY City and on the LIRR.
Open Arms Must Be Relocated
The Open Arms cafe (the food pantry occupying the old Riverhead railroad station building on Railroad Avenue) must find a new home. Residents and businesses are fed up with the food handout center. Some question has arisen as to whether the facility is being used by illegal immigrants who frequent the area on a daily basis.
Candidates Still Not Selected
Other that the Conservative Party selection of Rick Lazio to run for Governor, all other candidate selections remain open including the Democrat or Republican choices for Governor and Senate, and the Republican or Conservative candidate for the CD-1 (Congressional seat to oppose the likely Democrat choice: Tim Bishop.)
