The Riverhead Central District School Board is not giving up on major spending for school repairs. They are putting finishing touches on a spending bill which they will introduce in the fall calling for spending $80 million dollars for various repairs to schools, parking fields and the bus garage, Last year the public turned down a request for a $123 million dollar bond issue for many of the same items.
Wooten Still Has Eyes on Supervisor.
Town Board member Jim Wooten reached an agreement of sorts with Town Republican leader John Galla whereby he would seek another run at the town councilman seat and not make a bid for supervisor. He hasn't ruled out a run for the Town executive seat however and may still make a bid.
East End GOP Screens for Exec
Representatives from the 5 East End Republican Committees have screened three possible candidates to run for the County Executive post now that Steve Levy has decided against a third term.
Meeting at the Polish Hall in Riverhead, the Committee members screened County Treasurer Anie Carpenter, NY State Assemblyman Michael Fitzpatrick and NY State Senator John Flanagan. Suffolk Commissioner of Jurors Michael O'Donohoe had been screened elsewhere.
