Carpenter for County Exec
Suffolk County Treasurer Angie Carpenter will seek the nomination for a run for the County Executive job now that Steve Levy has stated that he will not seek a third term. The long time Suffolk politician, former legislator and now Treasurer, made her announcement at the LaGrange Inn in West Islip.

State Senators Seek LIPA Oversight
Several New York State senators will ask the legislature for more control over LIPA and will seek an oversight panel to examine the utility's rate system.

Senators Want Armory for Riverhead
State Senators LaValle and Losquadro are asking that the State  turn over the Armory on route 58 to the Town (at no charge) in accordance with a reverter clause that states that the Armory will be returned to the Town when it is no longer being used as an Armory for the National Guard.  Reserve facilities have been consolidated in Farmingdale.  Riverhead was the original owner of the property.  Sean Walter had previously suggested that the Riverhead PD could be headquartered in the building.

Riverhead Accounting Probe Continues
The investigation into irregularities in the Riverhead Accounting office continues with some individuals obtaining legal counsel to represent their interests.  The probe concerns allegations that the Town's facilities and computer equipment may have been used for an outside business.

New Found School Aid Changes Budget?
Not so much.  Why is it that the newly allocated $600,000 in school aid from the state fails to reduce the tax levy by an appreciable amount?  It is still at 5.23% with spending increase held at 1.26%.  This includes using $3.4 million dollars in surplus funds to offset the taxes.
