About 60 Nassau residents attending a meeting at Hofstra to review revelopment plans for the Nassau Coliseum, emphatically opposed the plan to include a casino in the project. The Shinnecock Nation was hoping for a positive response from the residents.
Superintendent to Decide Bond Vote Date
The Riverhead Central School Board District has given Superintendent of Schools Nancy Carney authority to decide when district residents will vote on a proposed $80 million dollar bond which is intended for various school, parking field and bus barn repairs.

Suffolk SPCA Rescues Horses From Local Farm
The Suffolk SPCA moved to rescue horses and other animals from the Abbess Farms on route 25 in Calverton. The animals were in serious need of water, feed and medical treatment.
Taxis to be Regulated
The Town Board moved forward on a plan to ensure that taxis operated within the town use drivers who are safe and drug free and will issue rules to those taxi organizations operating within Riverhead.
