The Suffolk County Legislature is sponsoring a series of public hearings to review pending legislation on the E-Verify program. E Verify assures that employers are not hiring illegals. The program has been upheld by courts across the country as a legitimate tool to ensure employment integrity.
Hearings were scheduled Tuesday and Wednesday of this week at the Legislative Meeting hall in the Griffing Building (Court complex) in Riverhead (Tues) and at the Legislative offices in Hauppauge (Wed).
Suffolk Conservatives Nix Working Family
The Suffolk Conservative Party has announced that it will not nominate any candidate for office who also accepts a nominating ballot line from the Working Families group. Conservative Chairman Walsh believes that the Working Families Party is synonymous with Liberals and therefore, opposes the principles of the Conservative Party. It should be noted that several prominent Republican Party members have accepted ballot lines from Working Families in the past. Lets see what happens this time around.
Lots of Talk about The $78 Million Bond
Issuance of the $78.4 million dollar bond issue for school renovation and repair is not coming easily. There is much discussion about the details of the bond program and lots of questions being raised. The devil is always in the details.
