The Town of Riverhead says that Rechler Industries still owes Riverhead $250 thousand dollars as a result of a failed contract. While the letter of agreement which stipulated the extra payment has actually expired, the Town attorney still feels that Rechler is responsible for the payment. Stay tuned.

Patricia Nugent, former assistant principal in Riverhead Middle School has been named Principal at the Briarcliff Elementary School in Shoreham-Wading River.
Commemorative Parade on 9/11
Calverton residents are planning a parade on September 11 to commemorate the infamous day when so many lost their lives in the World Trade Center, Shanksville and Pentagon disasters. The march will begin at 1 pm at the Riley Avenue School and proceed to the World Trade Center Memorial on the corner of Riley and Edwards.
Shirley Library Stays Open
Many voices in strong opposition to the closing of the Shirley Public Library for extensive repairs and renovation has now turned the unpopular plan into a positive one for the residents. The closing would have caused many layoffs and the loss of this important facility for several months. The library will now remain open, working around the patrons whenever it can.

This aircraft is owned and operated by the Commemorative Air Force's (CAF) Southern California Wing, based at Camarillo.
