Meet the Candidates - Wednesday
The Mattituck Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Meet the Candidates luncheon on Wednesday October 24.  A number of political hopefuls on the Federal, State and Local levels will be available for discussions or speeches.  The luncheon will be at the Meetinghouse Creek Inn in Aquebogue and the cost is $22.

(watched all the presidential debates and glad they are over)

Street Clogged - No Alert
For two days now a utility company has been clogging The Preserve with equipment, trailers and "men at work" signs.  They are apparently installing cable or fibre optic lines for cable service.  There has not been any alert or warning notice received  (at least by this writer) that our streets were about to be populated suddenly by equipment and workmen.  How about it Town Hall? or Highway Department?

Lots of  Fence
State Senator Ken LaValle met with 69 Suffolk farmers this week who were to thank the Senator on passing the Farmers Preservation bill which allocated over $1 million dollars to them for the installation of 180,000 feet of deer fencing.  Farmers say they were in desperate need of the fencing to preserve their crops from the annual devastation caused by the four legged creatures.

Wild Turkey
Yesterday afternoon spotted 19 wild turkeys on the front lawn.  Not seeing as many deer as in years past but this is the second or third time that the turkeys have shown up. Don't they know Thanksgiving is around the corner?
