Riverhead Library Budget
The Riverhead Free Library has proposed a budget of $3,887,532 for the budget period of 2013-2014.
This is an increase in the budget from the previous year ($3,779,147) and will result in a tax levy of $168,085 or 4.72%.  If approved the tax levy will result in an additional $6.98 a year for taxpayers.The major increase in the budget is on the retirement line, increasing from $231,554 to $310,000

A hearing on the budget proposal will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 7 pm (Craft Room) with a vote to be held on Tuesday April 2 between 10 am and 8 pm in the library Grand Meeting Room.

CORRECTION: THE ZONING BOARD WILL CONDUCT A PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING APPLICATION 12-51 (PROPOSED CAT TREATMENT CENTER ON YOUNGS AVE THIS EVENING THURSDAY 2/28/13 AT 7 PM.  INTERESTED RESIDENTS SHOULD ARRIVE AT 6:45 PM FOR PRE-HEARING DISCUSSION WITH ATTORNEY.

9-12 Suspended
The Suffolk 9-12 Project has suspended its current organization and will soon reorganize under a new name and leadership.The message board on the Meetup site continues until further notice.

Charter School Expansion
The Riverhead Charter School on route 25 has received the go ahead from the town board to expand the facilities with a new 49,000 square foot building on the south end of the parcel.  This will enable the school to increase the student body and raise the academic level above sixth grade.  State approval is required.
