The Town Board is currently reviewing standards for the use of pesticides on Long Island farm crops. Advocates for stricter controls for the use of pesticide chemicals on farm soils are requesting that the DEC become actively involved in such research.
Meanwhile, Joe Gergela, of the Long Island Farm Bureau is urging caution and suggests that severe restrictions could jeopardize the island's farm industry. Some medical authorities believe that pesticides and herbicides contribute to the incidence of dementia, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
The news videos of detractors of Margaret Thatcher shown dancing in London streets, opening bottles of champagne and holding up vile, anti Thatcher signs must have been embarrassing to civilized Britishers everywhere. That disgusting behavior was in marked contrast to the tributes paid Mrs Thatcher by Prime Minister David Cameron in Parliament followed by more tributes from both sides of the political aisle.
