The Preserve Journal. On the Road

Gotta love the truck stops!

Pilot, Loves, Flying J.  All familiar names on the truck stop circuit.  Drive the interstates for a couple of days and you will soon become a regular at the major truck stops.  You'll need gas, of course, but you will also look forward to a cup of coffee and the much needed restroom.

The big truck stops are familiar ports of call for the guys who drive the big rigs as well as the RV bunch who look forward to spacious areas to maneuver their motor homes or travel trailers in for a fill up.  Now the rest of us who drive in with a regular passenger car, pickup or van also become attached to the truck stop as a regular way point.

Not only can you pick from 7 or 8 blends of coffee but there are many choices of chips, snacks and cookies to go with it.  Electronics buffs will be pleased at the many aisles of chargers, cell phones GPS units and accessories. Many stops have their own hot food but more and more are incorporating a fast food franchise like Denny's, Arby's or Macdonalds.

You know these are full service operations when you hear the speaker announcing that "customer number 104 , your shower is ready. Proceed to number 4".  So get out on the highways and look forward to the truck stops.  The bigger, the better.
