The news is still bad. Administration trying to put on their best face but this dog is not working. We are currently in the initial Obamacare enrollment period and there will be one every year if it lasts. Not wanting the "distraction" of an election to throw things off kilter, the Government has delayed the 2014 enrollment period for an additional 5 weeks putting it past the November election day. How very considerate!
Other Weird Washington Stuff.
In an unprecedented move Harry Reid and the Senate Democrats voted to invoke the "nuclear" option. Not the bomb but a move that enables them to vote in their judicial nominations without requiring a "super" majority (60 votes). Now only a simple majority (51 votes) will be needed to vote in a slate of liberal nominees to the DC circuit court. Supreme Court nominees and legislation are excluded from the changed rule. (At least for the moment). A super majority on matters of substantial importance has been a tradition of the Senate for 200 years or more
The problem for Reid and the Senate Democrats is that when the shoe is on the other foot and the Republicans gain control of the Senate, this will not be forgotten and the Democrats know it. Obamacare for example, could be repealed in a five minute vote on day one of a new congress. Some of the older (and wiser) Democratic Senators voted against the measure.
