Short takes
Islip town Supervisor Tom Croci is gearing up for a run at the New York State Senate. Just back from service deployment to the Middle East, Croci seems to be following the successful career pattern of State Senator Lee Zeldin who also served in the Middle East. Zeldin is now in a race for the congressional seat held by Tim Bishop.
Zoning change being sought for the now vacant 2nd Avenue firehouse. Much discussion by the town board. Will probably be approved.
Hampton Jitney terminal and staging area on Edwards Avenue is really taking shape with very impressive front entrance.
Calverton Links, (just down the road from Jitney) looks very sad. Beautiful golf course is now just a lot of overgrown grass on the fairways and greens. Hope new owner does something soon.
Report that FBI wants to film bomb training film utilizing the 7000 foot runway at EPCAL. Would not interfere with skydiver operations on same runway.
