Board Reveals EPCAL Offer

Supervisor Cardinale has revealed that the Board has been considering an offer from the Pulte Corporation in which the corporation would pay $90 million dollars for 755 acres at EPCAL. Pulte would construct a hotel, convention center, a golf course and 500 homes. Pulte would return acreage to the Town for recreational use and for a two bay ambulance (EMS site). John Dunleavy (Board member) indicated that the golf course would become a municipal course. This is all in the proposal stage at this time but it seems like the Board is taking it seriously. Dunleavy, in a radio interview, felt confident that this offer will fly.

Civic Association Meeting Well Attended, but Nothing New!
The Greater Calverton Civic Association meeting on June 14 at the Riley Avenue School covered a multitude of subjects and offered an assortment of updates (of sorts). I came away with the impression that the Town will try to accommodate all proposals even those which townspeople want to reject. The traffic problems associated with the F1 Go Kart proposal could be resolved, they say. The Town would cavein to the group home proposal because the State "trumped" the Town. The YMCA proposal for Calverton Manor would be rejected for a "better" Town location at EPCAL. Not much to say about Crown since they corrected those "unsightly" curtains, but sooner or later "we'll decide if they should even be there on that site". Reclamation project? Don't ask.
