Helicopter Case in the Courts
The Town's case against the helicopter operator who has been landing and taking off on property just south of the Preserve has had some results.

Justice Whalen has granted a temporary restraining order barring take-offs and landings at 269 Deep Hole Road (owner/operator's residence) but denied the same for operations at 230 Deep Hole (the vacant 10 acre parcel south of The Preserve).

The case continues on Thursday, February 28, 0930 am at the Cromarty Court Complex in Riverhead before Judge Joseph Farneti. The Town anticipates an adjournment in order to assemble information to combat a motion for dismissal filed by the defendant.
Update: (Case was adjourned until March 13)
Interested parties are, of course, invited to attend.

Oil Hits $102 brl While the Euro tops $1.50 Exchange Rate
While the country dashes head long into a recession why aren't any of the candidates discussing the economy? No calls for drilling for oil. No calls to re-examine our "free trade" policies, outsourcing our jobs, factories and technology. Not even the White House will make a comment. Going to Europe this year? Take plenty of extra U.S. dollars because they aren't worth much these days.

Do One Nice Thing Makes Plea for Warm Clothing
That great web site Do One Nice Thing is passing along a request by our military for warm clothing for Iraqi families. Winter has been especially cold this year and they ask for sweaters, jackets (even slightly used but clean would be ok). Check the web site.
