Riverhead Begins Inspection of Pools
Code enforcement officials, police and fire marshals began an inspection of swimming pools located in the Town of Riverhead. They are inspecting for lack of fencing or improper gates or self locking gates as well as inflatable pools which are not allowed. Inspections are being stepped up in view of the number of drownings in private pools this year.
Supervisor Confirms Solar Interest
Town Supervisor Cardinale, in a radio interview on Friday, confirmed that the Town is reviewing a proposal for placement of solar generating equipment at the landfill. Solar companies pay between $5000 and $10,000 per acre (yearly) to place solar panels on a site.
SWR School District has been cited for failing to bid some $120,000 in contracts in accordance with NY State mandates which require bidding on any expense over $20,000. Two other districts have also been cited.
Tilapia - Beware! Authorities warn that this farm raised fish may be among the more dangerous to eat. (correction here. Tilapia is high in Omega 6, very fatty, worse than bacon or a doughnut) according to Dr. Manny on FoxNews.
Gas Prices - Can you believe that Congress will do nothing to help this crisis situation. Yesterday, Senator Vitter from Louisiana made a plea to allow an energy bill to come before the Senate for at least "a discussion". Menendez of New Jersey shot him down. Can you believe this? Please demand that your congressmen and Senators do something about this energy emergency NOW!
