Riverhead Tea Party Huge Success

It was starting to get cold and windy on the Riverhead Riverfront at 7 pm on Wednesday evening but it didn't stop a large crowd of tea partiers to show up with signs, flags and their voices to protest the wrongful handling of taxpayer money by the Congress, Treasury and Administration.

There may have been 500 to 1000 or more in attendance to cheer on speeches by the organizers. Tax protesters carried American flags, Don't Tread On Me flags and a variety of very original signs.

The group marched from the Riverfront parking field, then east on Main Street before returning to the original location. They applauded and cheered excellent speeches by Charles Kelly and Mrs Kelly.

Meanwhile, thousands of protesters gathered at Tea Parties across the country including Sacramento, San Antonio, Chicago, New York City, Atlanta and Washington DC . 500 or more similar gatherings were held in large and small cities and towns across the nation. The Atlanta crowd was estimated at 15,000 with 5000 to 10,000 at the California capitol and in front of the Alamo in San Antonio.

All of the gatherings had a similar theme. This was not a "one time deal" and politicians were warned that the public is demanding a change in how Washington represents the citizenry.
