Riverhead Resorts Decision Delayed
The Town Board has agreed to give Riverhead Resorts an additional two months to consider it's appeal for a reduction in the purchase price. Resorts, which is planning to build a recreational area at the Town site (including a ski lift), is seeking a $55 million reduction in the agreed price due, in part, to the current economy. Changes to the original agreement will now fall to Sean Walter and his administration to resolve the issue.

Riverhead Board of Ed Adopts Plan
The Riverhead Board of Education has formally adopted the $123 million proposal to build new classrooms for the Middle School (terms 6-8), move the Administrators to the Roanoke Avenue School, which will be closed for students and provide funding for parking, and repairs.A public referendum to approve the bond issue will be scheduled for early in 2010.
Opinion: This is hardly the time to put a huge bond issue on the backs of Riverhead residents who are concerned about the annual budget, the residual effects of the landfill debacle and so much more. .Surely this project can be scaled down or planned more efficiently (or both).

Town Approves Abatement
The Town Board approved tax abatements for the Summerwind project and the hotel planned adjacent to the Atlantis Aquarium. Both are planned projects for downtown Riverhead.
Note: Jodi Giglio (councilwoman elect) is a part owner in the Summerwind project.

Shots Fired - Arrest Made
Riverhead police have made an arrest associated with shots being fired on Harrison Avenue on Monday. Schools on Harrison were in lockdown for a short period.
