Long Island has been declared a major disaster area as a result of the March storms, wind, rain damage and flooding and will receive unspecified funds for repairs to homes and assistance for victims.
235 Million for Schools-Maybe!
Legislation is pending which would filter 235 million dollars into school systems statewide to help stave off 19,000 potential layoffs in all categories including teachers and support employees.
Feds Crack Down on LI Gangs
In a recent series of arrests Federal prosecutors have charged 17 members of the MS 13 street gang with murder, attempted murder and racketeering crimes on Long Island. MS 13 is the largest street gang on the Island and a menace to many towns. How many illegals are MS 13 members?
Suffolk Supervisor Steve Levy, recently turned Republican, is predicting that he would win big in any primary battle against Rick Lazio. Both are candidates for the NY State Governor position. The Conservative Party has already selected Lazio as their candidate. No word yet as to whether or when there will be a Republican primary to decide the GOP nominee.
You may have missed it.......The traffic circle at Osborn and Middle Road is now open. Flood waters damaged many homes on Horton which leads into the circle.
Peconic Bay Medical Center and their partners in the East End Health Alliance have reached an agreement with Empire/Blue Cross.

Actually the Conservative Party hasn't endorsed Lazio, but the newspapers keep reporting it incorrectly. The head of the Conserv. Party supports him, but that doesn't mean the rest does.
