10 School Districts Approve
Ten Long Island school districts which had their annual budgets voted down last month, re-voted slimmer budgets this past Tuesday.  All of the reduced budgets passed.  The districts cut the rejected budgets to numbers that were more acceptable to the district's tax payers.

Shinnecocks (Things are good)
The Shinnecock Indian Nation moved beyond a major obstacle on Tuesday when the Bureau of Indian Affairs announced that the Tribe had met all seven of the criteria for recognition as an official tribe.  The tribe elders will now meet to review how the recognition can be used to assist the Nation with Federal assistance and of course, what plans can be made for an income producing casino.

Unkechaug Tribe (Not so good)
The Unkekechaug Indian Tribe of Mastic is under fire by the State Senate and is having their State recognition  suspended because of charges of illegal cigarette sales.

Micro-Stamping is Dead
New York State gun control advocates were devasted on Tuesday when it was announced that the Micro-stamping of handguns bill could not pass.  Sponsors of the bill which would have severely restricted certain handguns in the state, could not muster enough votes.
