Casino Possibilities
The recognition of the Shinnecock Indian Nation has stirred up a lot of interest in the County and now, even the State sees the new found recognition as a source of much needed revenue.  All kinds of proposals are rising to the top including a recent one of putting the gambling facility in the Nassau Coliseum.  Others are suggesting locating the casino at the Shirley Calabro Field.  Just last week the possibilities focused on EPCAL here in Calverton and a 95 acre site in Bellport.

Air Forcement
The Suffolk County Sheriff's office announced that they had instituted a traffic monitoring program using a borrowed light aircraft from New Jersey.  Their stealthy observance of violators on the LIE netted them 88 traffic tickets.  No telling when they would launch the light plane again but they certainly paid for the gas.  Keep an eye on the sky.

9-12 On the Way Up
The 9-12 Suffolk Project has been attracting membership at a rapid clip.  The conservative group, similar to the Tea Party, is over 900 strong and quickly moving to the 1000 mark. An endorsement by the 9-12 Group (not easily given)  is eagerly sought by politicians and carries a lot of weight with the political parties.

Another $1.60 for Cigs
NY Gov Paterson raised the tax on a pack of cigarettes by $1.60.
