The Baiting Hollow area received between 15 and 20inches of snow over the past two days. Official measurements were not available at print time, but local calculations put the number at well over a foot and a half. The snow was deep and heavy for shoveling. Those lucky to have snow blowers saved a lot of linament. Snow blowers were not to be found anywhere even if you had ready cash for a purchase.
Many offices, businesses and of course the schools were all closed because of the storm. This was particularly problematical for the schools as many tests including midterms and regents were scheduled for this week.
Town To Announce EPCAL Study
Riverhead has decided to seek some professional consulting help to sort out the planning and vision for EPCAL. The recent disappointing loss of two contracts for development at the site has brought into focus the immediate need for some worthwhile projects which would benefit the taxpayers of the Town.
SWR Recruiting for Superintendent.
The Shoreham-Wading River School District has decided to engage the services of a recruiting firm to search out potential candidates for the position of School Superintendent. The present Superintendent Dr Harriet Copel will leave her post at the end of June 2011.
Firehouse for Land at Stotsky? No Way
Coucilwoman Jodi Giglio denied that the Town was seeking to swap land near the Stotsky Park on Pulaski for the 2nd Street Firehouse but did confirm that the Town is in contract to acquire the former firehouse building.

Social Security Out of Money in 2037
Testifying before a Senate committee, Dr Elmendorf who heads up the CBO, (Congressional Budget Office) estimates that the Social Security Trust Fund will be out of money to pay out monthly entitlements by the year 2037. He further states that the Social Security Disability Fund will depleted in just ten years.
