Hampton Bays Residents Want Out of Riverhead School District

A small group of Hampton Bays residents whose homes are in the Riverhead school district want to secede from the district and rejoin Hampton Bays. They are not happy with the Riverhead School district taxes and feel their school children will be better served in the Hampton district.  A petition signed by 14 homeowners asking for the change is not likely to be approved.

NY Senate Delays Vote on Gay Marriage.

The New York State Senate has delayed voting on the gay marriage issue which had already been approved by the Assembly.  Apparently those who oppose the initiative have made their voices heard in their respective senatorial districts  and are putting a great deal of pressure on the Senators.  Proponents admit that they are still one vote short of a winning margin.
