Riverhead Town is moving closer to privatizing the Animal Shelter on Youngs Avenue. Contracts have been written which if all parties are in agreement, will turn over the operation of the animal shelter to NFAWL (North Fork Animal Welfare League). The currently agreed price is $200,000 annually. NFAWL now operates the Southampton shelter. NFAWL representatives state that they can provide more personnel for daily care at the shelter.
It Is Official - Croci Wins
Tom Croci (R), former aide to newly elected State Senator Lee Zeldin, has now been officially declared the winner in the race for Islip Town Supervisor. The incumbent, Phil Nolan (D) lost in the final tally 25,026 for Croci and 24,683 for Nolan.
Solar Farm at BNL Not Popular With Everyone.
The huge solar farm on the grounds of the Brookhaven National Laboratory is not being celebrated in all quarters despite the endorsement by Sen LaValle.
Jacques Ditte of the 9-12 Project has strongly criticized the Senator for just another government project that will probably not benefit many citizens.
