Boy Scouts Open Doors to Sandy Victims
Camp DeWolfe, a Boy Scout encampment in Wading River has opened its facilities to those homeowners displaced by Sandy and who need a place to stay until their homes become habitable once again.  The Camp is also available to utility workers who cannot find accommodations while working on the Island.

Coates Throws Hat in Ring
Anthony Coates advisor to Town Supervisor Sean Walter will seek a seat on the Town Board at the next election.  Coates who had switched parties from Democrat to Republican in July had considered a run for the legislature but decided to shoot for the Town Board instead.

Krupski for Legislature
Al Krupski a Peconic Farmer from Southold will seek the Democratic nomination to run for Legislator in the First District.  This is the seat being vacated by Ed Romaine who will soon be sworn in as the new Brookhaven Town Supervisor.  No word as to the Republican choice to run against Krupski.

Charter School Wants Expansion
The Riverhead Charter School on Rte 25 is seeking to expand its size to include a seventh and eighth grade.At the moment students must leave the charter school after the sixth grade to attend a Middle School.  Some have suggested that the additional grades will cost the district $1.5 million dollars.
