Outrageous Plan for Cat Shelter
Attention all homeowners who live in or in the general area of the Preserve.  There is a serious attempt to locate a spay and neutering cat shelter on property fronting Youngs Avenue and immediately adjacent to and directly behind the rear yards of residential properties on the Preserve.

This plan has moved ahead quietly without proper notice to all homeowners who live in the area.  It was so quiet that few if any of the nearby property owners knew of hearings and did not attend as they normally would have.  Now they are shocked to find that the cat shelter is moving along swiftly without an opportunity to voice an objection.

Particularly outrageous is a statement made by the applicant's attorney that there is already an animal shelter and a landfill on Youngs so it shouldn't change the nature of the area. Don't let this happen!  Get involved.  Stop this cat shelter now.  Tell the town, the Zoning Board that you strongly object.

Walter Nominated
Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter(R) has been nominated by the Republican Party to run for the Suffolk County legislature.  Walter is scheduled to run in a special election sometime in January to fill the seat vacated by Ed Romaine who successfully ran for the office of Brookhaven Supervisor.  Walter's Democratic opponent is expected to be Walter Krupski (D) a councilman in the Town of Southold.  Krupski, a farmer and quite well known on the East End is expected to do well against Walter.  Sean Walter is a resident of Wading River and has been Riverhead Supervisor for three years.

If successfully elected to the legislature Walter would be sworn in immediately leaving Riverhead with the problem of replacing him by  a special election or appointment.
