Catching Up On Things Here and There!
Reclamation/Landfill: The FDN final report regarding the current status of the Reclamation Project and recommendations for resolving this major problem is due on Wednesday this week (Aug 16). Unless some unknown benefactor comes along to pay the bill, capping the landfill will probably be the recommendation.
We Are Not Alone Department: Residents living in Wading River Estates are now dealing with a familiar issue. The Planning Board, in a surprise reversal of it's original ruling not to open a tap street from a new subdivision (Spring Meadows) has now decided to cut through into the existing neighborhood. What is with these Planning Boards? The Wading River residents are angry and rightly so. Don't forget our own cause.
Polish Town Street Fair & Polka Festival this weekend: The 32nd annual Polish festival on Aug 19 & 20.
Over 250 booths will exhibit. More details at www.polishtownusa.com
North Shore Christian Church right to conduct Sunday services at the Riley Avenue School was challenged in court by some residents. The Suffolk County Court dismissed the suit. The residents said that they would appeal the decision.
Crown Sanitation Mulching Right Along: In addition to running Porta-Potties out of their Youngs Avenue address, Crown now offers mulch (in many colors). Still recycling though and messing up the street. Can't blame it on the Reclamation project anymore. And why is that asphalt plant across the street still there??????
