Confusing EPCAL Proposals
There are several proposals being actively promoted in the Town of Riverhead for the recreation areas at EPCAL. It could make you dizzy. EPCAL Center, a combined activity area consisting of a motor raceway, conference area, hotels, equestrian space and much more is filling the local airwaves with promotional material. The radio commercials are doing their best to intrigue the residents with the purchase price ($100 million), annual taxes of ($15 million), thousands of construction jobs and perhaps as many jobs post construction. Another proposal brings back the legendary ski jump, recreational activities, a water sports lake and more.

It is understood that the promoters will exhibit and explain their plans before various civic associations in the near future. This sounds like a long term proposition and is likely to go well into the fall before anything is firmed up.

Downtown on Hold
Apparently there are too many open items on the downtown renovation project including the status of the theater as well as condemnation proceedings for several buildings. No one can seem to agree on the value of the structures. Can't make a deal if you don't know the price!

(Interesting how the Supervisor can DIRECT the Planning Department to expedite the details of the downtown project but only ask Planning about our cul-de-sac)

Turnabout . What?
Have you noticed how the Town has torn up the ground and knocked down loads of trees in order to construct the infamous turnabout on Osborne and Middle Road. All this for what could have been resolved with a traffic light. It is ironic that those same proponents of the turnabout are now saying that the rte 58 traffic circle should be eliminated.
