Planning Board Moves on Mastronardi Subdivision
The Public Hearing (Thursday June 7, 7:00 pm) for the proposed Mastronardi subdivision (now Mastro Realty) resulted in an approval by the Planning Board to move to the next step. The approval included the cutting through of the tap street. An objection by the undersigned to the Board regarding the tap street was received by the members without comment. Whether there remains a possibility of any future commentary or objection is unknown.

Wal-Mart Approved (at last)
The proposal to build a new Wal-Mart store on route 58 (opposite Tanger) was finally approved by the Town Board. Without explanation, Board member Barbara Blass abstained in the final voting. On another note the current Wal-Mart has shown great improvement under the new manager.

Chasing Donuts
Last week we reported that the shuttered Krispy Kreme building was being considered for a new White Castle location. Not so. Chase Bank is now looking at the same building for a new branch. The bank would be very acceptable but those little burgers are addictive. Meanwhile Nathans has been turned down for a space next to Taco Bell.

Competition Fierce at EPCAL
Town still trying to sort out the bids for EPCAL industrial properties and will announce the winner next week. Right!

Editor's Comments
The disappointing result at the Public Hearing for the Mastronardi subdivision is just another example of Town authorities thumbing their collective noses at the tax paying public. No reasonable argument against the tap street was enough to sway a determined effort to invoke this unwanted intrusion into our neighborhood. How do you justify abrogating the rights and wishes of 25 families just to satisfy the peculiarities of this new, adjacent subdivision? Perhaps it is simply some one's need to employ a planning technique learned in Planning 101 .....or perhaps it is something else.
