Chopper Court Case Adjourned
The case being brought against the operator of helicopter N119RW on behalf of the Town of Riverhead has been adjourned until March 13 at the Cromarty Court Complex in Riverhead. The adjournment allows the Town additional time to gather information to combat the defendants application for dismissal.

Previously, the Court had issued a temporary restraining order which prohibited the operator from making landings and takeoffs from his property on Deep Hole Road (where he maintains a residence) but did not issue a restriction for similar operations at 230 Deep Hole Road, the site of a 10 acre vacant parcel which is adjacent to The Preserve.

Many residents in the area are very concerned about these landings and takeoffs with regard to safety. The Town has taken the position that flight operations are not permitted within the Town unless the operator has received a specific permit.

Grumman Makes a Big Comeback
A few weeks ago a letter to the editor at News-Review suggested that the Grumman Corp. was interested in coming back to Suffolk County having met with County Executive Levy on the matter. The writer commented that EPCAL would have been the perfect place for them instead of the Ski-Lift Mountain. Who knew???

On Friday the Air Force announced that it had awarded a huge $40 billion dollar contract to Northrop-Grumman and EADS of France for the purchase of 179 tanker aircraft. Part of the manufacture would be in Alabama (which made Sen. Jeff Sessions a happy man), and part would be accomplished in France at the Airbus factory.

Was Grumman looking for a L.I. location for part of the manufacturing workload? How will we know?
