Financial Bad News for Americans
Americans awoke to a triple whammy on Friday (March 7) when they heard reports that:
1. oil had hit the $106 a barrel price
2. 63,000 jobs had been lost in February (largest in 5 years)
3. the Euro exchange rate had topped $1.54
The Bush Administration said that they couldn't do anything about it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't this a sign that every level of government should cut spending right now and put a cap on their budgets? This includes the Town of Riverhead.

Where is Wal-Mart?
Bogged down in litigation with the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.

Helicopter Case March 13
The Town reports that the case regarding helicopter landings on property off Deep Hole and just south of The Preserve is on the court calendar for March 13 at the Cromarty Court Complex in Riverhead.

$14.5 million library and learning center for SC Community College being challenged by legislator Bill Lindsay (D) Holbrook for selecting out of state contractor.

$40 billion Northrop-Grumman/Eads contract being challenged by some congressman who believe Boeing should have been the winner.

Supervisor Cardinale says property taxes and school taxes should go down by 50% and 15% respectively by virtue of the projected revenues from EPCAL. Wait and see on this one.

Local restaurants on Main Street say that Culinary school is taking away their business.
