Mastronardi Project Underway In Earnest

It seems that the tree cutters, bulldozers and mulching pulverizers are working overtime to clear the land just east of The Preserve. They have cut a wide swath through that forest of oaks and other native trees and do it from early morning until late in the evening.

The noise level is horrendous and can go on, I am told, until 8 pm every evening. Now let's see. Downtown you can get a stiff fine for dropping a candy wrapper on the sidewalk while here in the Preserve a logging operation just 100 feet away from our homes can proceed day and night destroying the quality of life.

We all accept the inevitability of a new subdivision and while it takes away some of our privacy and neighborhood integrity we can understand it. We can never accept, however, the cutting through of our cul-de-sac to create a tap street into the new subdivision. There is no logic, no reason, no sensible explanation by this Planning Board to impose this insult on our neighborhood and the people who protested by email, letters, telephone calls or signed petitions hoping to change this terrible injustice. Indeed one of the two members of Planning who opposed the idea was replaced. Huh?

When the cut-through is complete you may not want your kids riding their bikes into the old cul-de-sac area. The traffic is more than likely to increase as the UPS, Fedex, garbage and landscaper trucks just speed on through.

Commercial development on Sound Avenue now possible
.....when the courts overturned the Town's rezoning of 4 1/2 acres on Sound Avenue from commercial to residential. The Town will appeal to retain the residential rezoning of 2004.

Tria Stays at Town Hall
While the Board officially vacated the Ombudsman position, Supervisor Cardinale retained Vince Tria as an unofficial contributor to the Town but on a voluntary basis. (please note that when we first raised our objections to the tap street, Vince Tria was the only Town representative (official or not) to personally visit the cul-de-sac and subsequently plead our case to the Planning Board)

Why is gasoline still at $3.73 a gal while oil is 106.23 bbl? (9/5/08) Don't patronize gas stations with one price for credit and another for cash! Andrew Cuomo, Atty Gen NYS believes it is illegal.
