Two Tier Gas Pricing is Outrageous

When service stations introduced the use of credit cards at the pump they provided a great convenience to the motoring public and increased the sale of gasoline at the same time. At least three (3) stations in Riverhead have now changed over to "two tier pricing" for gas purchases; one price for credit cards and another for cash. The public is generally outraged at this and often surprised when they drive up to the pump and discover they will have to pay upwards of 10 cents more per gallon to use their credit card. Many simply drive away to find another station, others stay to complain to the station operator. DON'T LIKE IT? MAKE YOUR POINT! DON'T PATRONIZE STATIONS WITH TWO TIER PRICING! FIND ANOTHER STATION.

Riverhead Facing Huge Budget Problem

Supervisor Cardinale has announced that the Town is $3 million dollars short on revenues and expects a $2 million dollar increase in expenses. Revenues from mortgages, fines, planning and building fees have all fallen well short of expectation. Expenses are mostly for anticipated Town employee salary increases. Fund reserves are not enough to cover the shortfall. The budget is expected on or about September 30.
