2% Cap Limits STAR Reductions
All property owners receive a reduction in their school taxes based on the STAR program, a system of allocating State funds to school districts to assist homeowners with their tax bill.
The 2% cap imposed by the State on all increases will change the reduced amount which the tax payer may expect to receive in their STAR benefit.
Taxpayers who receive Basic STAR should expect $175 less than last year's benefit and those with enhanced STAR will see a $351 reduced benefit in their 2011-2012 school tax year.
