In a surprise move the Suffolk County Democrats threw the responsibility of selecting a candidate for the vacant 2nd Assembly District to the Town Committees. It seems that NYC Attorney John McManmon has put together enough votes from the various Democratic committees to make him the candidate of choice.
Twenty eight (28) year old McManmon is an attorney who works with a law firm in Manhattan and it has been suggested by some that he is not a true resident of the North Fork towns. Supporters of Jim Waters, owner of Waters Crest Winery say that Waters is still an active candidate and they will continue to push for his nomination.
Anthony Palumbo (R) had already been selected by the Republicans to run for the assembly seat vacated by Dan Losquadro who resigned to run and win the Brookhaven Highway Superintendent slot.
