Board of Education has scheduled a public hearing on April 22 for a proposed ruling which would give veterans a school tax exemption.  The meeting will begin at 7 pm in the high school.

Supervisor Bellone has signed a bill in to law which raises the age required to purchase tobacco products to 21.  The bill includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes, folding paper and pipes. and will become law on January 1, 2015.

Landscape Adventures in Jamesport will close after 36 years in operation.  The company will still provide limited landscape services under the same name.

Cinco De Mayo parking lot on route 25 became  a riot location for some 100 early Sunday morning.  A stabbing was also reported before police could arrive to break up the commotion.

State approves less restrictive rules for bow hunters on the Island.  The rules will open more land areas for hunting by the bow hunters. 

Horseradish festival at the Hallockville Museum Farms on Saturday was an apparent success.  Some 700 people attended.

Backhoe stolen from Calverton Golf Links last week between Tuesday and Friday.  The equipment is valued at about $13,000.  Investigators found tracks leading across a farm field and then exiting onto Edwards Avenue.
